Disadvantages of Freelance Movers

Disadvantages of Freelance Movers
At one point of time, one will definitely have
considered hiring a freelance mover as a hired hand.
This is because freelance movers are relatively cheaper compared to
hiring from a company. But in the terms of house moving,
it is wise not to do so. Here are the reasons why:
A freelance mover does not have any backing. What is
meant by this is that they are not legally accountable
for a lot of things. If the hired hand is done in a rush
without any proper form of paperwork being administered
from both sides, this could lead to unpleasant situation
when personal property are damaged or even worse is
misplaced or lost. Legally a freelancer is not held
accountable for this and thus unless you have the time
to work out the proper paperwork, this is definitely not
recommended. Even if you do have the time to do the
paperwork, you could save the time by hiring a moving
company which will ensure that your personal effects are
taken care of and the company is accountable for any
misplacement or accidents with the insurance coverage.
Just as he is not accountable for your damages or lost,
neither are you accountable for his injuries. This could
range from something minor like a bruise or a cut to a
broken bones or even death. Not only will he suffer due
to that unfortunate incident, but it could also lead to
unnecessary misunderstanding of his loved ones blaming
you for his accident. This could result in long and hard
fought lawsuits which could all be prevented by hiring a
company to do the moving. The company will definitely
take care of the welfare of its employees as it is
obliged by the government.
The next thing why a freelancer is not recommended is
because most of them are ineffective. There are hardly a
good reason for a freelancer to do moving solely. This
is usually done by people who are juggling other jobs
and when the occasion does arise, they will then commit
themselves for a short period of time to do the moving.
This could lead to an unprofessional way of conducting
themselves with bad habits like being late or not
handling your furniture properly.
Finding a freelancer is a tedious process. Even if you
found a freelancer who is able to make it to help you
with your moving, it usually requires more than one
person to do the moving for you. It is only optimistic
to think that your freelancers will find a crew for you,
but this either come at a price or simply takes too
long. When you hire a company, you cut down these hassle
as the company accommodates you and ensure that they
will free up time in the schedule to do it as this is
what they are hired for.
Last but not lease, the reason you should not hire a
freelancer is transport restriction. A freelancer may
come cheap and all, but it might turn out to be tedious
when he takes so many trips to transport your furniture
to your new house. A moving company’s goal is efficiency
as this translates to more businesses. Thus, they have a
well thought out system on how many people to allocate
to transport your belongings, how big is the
transporting vehicle and how many of it they should
provide. A freelance mover at best would get his goods
van or lorry to transport your goods which may take a
trip or two more than a moving company who usually wants
to move it all in one trip.
